Many inanimate subjects are quite easy to photograph since they don't move. There may be other difficulties such as avoiding reflections, but it is usually quite easy to get good details in most objects. Note that it is usually desirable to make a full 360 degree 3D model. Scanetica is now working towards just that objective.
