Features

Easy to use.

Only a few simple steps are required. A detailed guide is available to allow you to achieve the best result.

Requires only one modern digital camera.

No Lasters, no light projectors or other specialized equipment is required. Reasonable models can be produced with just a simple digital camera with more than 2 Megapixel images.

Suitable for Human models.

The Scanetica 3D Scanner was originally designed to produce 3D models of human heads, and is particularly suited to this task.

Subjects can be of any size.

The subjects can be of any size, as long as you can take good quality photographs. The subjects can be tiny (even microscopic) or very large.

Uses two plain photographs.

All that is required is to take two digital photographs, download them on to a computer and then use our website program to produce your 3D model.

No up front cost.

There is no expensive equipment or software that you need to buy to use our system. We do not sell the software. It is only available over the internet.

No special software required.

You only need a modern internet browser, Adobe Flash (9.0 or higher) and Microsoft Silverlight (You may need to download this from the Microsoft website).

This can be very attractive where there are restrictions on installing software (such as in many schools).

Free to use.

Currently The Scanetica 3D Scanner is completely free to use to produce and display 3D models. (In future a small charge may be made for the use of some features of the program.)

You make the models and save them on your own computer.

You do not need to upload photographs or download models. Scanetica does not save your models on our server nor does it even 'see' your photographs.

Scanetica Flash Viewer provided.

If you want to display a 3D model on a website, the model can be embedded in a suitable Scanetica Flash Viewer along with a suitable web page. You can then copy the code in the web page to your own web pages if you wish.

Models in .OBJ and .STL formats.

Currently models can also be converted on your computer to .OBJ and .STL formats. The .OBJ format can be used in many different 3D modelling programs. The .STL format is an industry standard format for CAD/CAM type equipment.

Extensive Help provided.

Comprehensive instructions are provided to help at every step; from taking the photographs to displaying a model on your own computer or on your own web page. These can be viewed as video instructions or can be read as printed instructions.
